Ingredients

  • 2 cups flour

  • 1 cup sugar (plus additional for rolling)

  • 2 tbsp baking soda

  • 1 tbsp cinnamon

  • 1/2 tbsp cloves

  • 1/2 tbsp ginger

  • 3/4 tbsp salt

  • 1 tbsp anise seed (optional)

  • 1 egg

  • 3/4 cup vegetable oil

  • 1/4 cup molasses

Directions

  • Preheat oven to 350° F
  • Combine and mix all ingredients
  • Roll mixture into little balls, then roll balls into granulated sugar. Flatten slightly with a fork (they’ll flatten more while baking)
  • Bake in the oven for 8 to 10 minutes or until the top of the cookies begin to crack
