Riva’s Bread or Buns

A bread (or buns) recipe from my Great Aunt Riva, likely originally used in school cafeterias!

Riva’s Bread or Buns

Course: Bread

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 tbsp sugar

  • 1 tbsp instant yeast

  • 4 tbsp butter, melted

  • 2 tsp salt

  • 4 c flour

  • If using dry milk:
  • 1 2/3 c water

  • 2 1/2 tbsp dry milk

  • If using regular milk:
  • 1 c water

  • 2/3 c milk

Directions

  • Combine all ingredients in the stand mixer. Use the curly thing (max speed of level 2) to mix everything together. Dough will be pretty sticky.
  • Put dough in a greased and floured loaf pan. Cover with towel and wait impatiently for it to rise and become loaf-like (about 4 hours!).
  • Bake at 375 until golden brown.
